Map showing the location of Johnsons Island in Sandusky Bay, Ohio, where Burley led by his old commander Beall from the Confederate States Navy Privateers, tried to Seize the gunboat Michigan using the passenger boat, Philo Parsons, in order to use it to free the officer class prisoners held by the union on Johnsons Island, in order to open up a new confederate heartland in the north.

 

 

Picture of Burley from his courtroom appearance in Port Clinton,  Ohio, he eventually escaped, as the war was over, and as he was a British Citizen, and because the jury couldnt reach a verdict. He then changed his name to Burleigh.
